Full Time, Staff position.

Job Purpose:

Works with the episodic series director in determining the creative and aesthetic approach to the animation. Maintains the character performance direction and supervises the animation crew to deliver the expected and desired performance. Additionally acts in a technical and management role where necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

       Supervises the animation crew to deliver the expected and desired performance and footage quotas.
       Maintains the quality and style of the character performance and acting continuity across the project.
       Reviews the work of each animator on a regular basis and approves shots for submission to Episodic Director.
       Directs and guides the overall animation production, balancing artistic and productivity requirements.
       Provides direct input for the technical setup of the models to be animated and is responsible for the production procedures that the animators are to follow.
       Guides character riggers with constructive feedback on performance specific requirements so as to ensure consistency and avoid production issues.
       Assist with shot animation if schedule permits.
       Act as the main liaison between the Animation department and other departments both in Asia  and the United States.
       Actively supports recruiting and training through professional and personal connections in the animation industry for the best talent for the project.
       Assess the work of prospective animation candidates.
       Trains and mentors animators to ensure all crew members are appropriately skilled and production-ready.
       Mentors and trains animation crew in performing tasks relative to the overall professional development of the animators including performance reviews and performance management issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

       Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Traditional Animation and/or 8 + years experience working in cel, stopmotion or computer animation with several years working on episodic series/feature films.
       Expert knowledge of Maya. Technical expertise is a plus. Proven track record of successfully working in a supervisory capacity on several animation productions.
       Possess advanced animation ability with an expert awareness of animation principles, including acting and action..
       Must have an extremely creative and critical eye for guiding the quality of the animation.
       Must be a skilled decision maker, problem solver and an exceptional communicator.
       Must be fluent in English and be able to communicate to the animation crew and production team accurately and effectively.
