Axis Animation -- VFX TD's E-mail

Axis Animation is looking for a VFX TD for both next generation game cinematics and commercials projects, in January 2008

Tasks will include building VFX assets to create realistic weather corrosion, dust, smoke, gravel and debris animation, and implementing these on specific shots, providing compositors with both test and final renders of these elements.

Candidates will work onsite at Axis Animation in Glasgow, UK for 3 weeks (with possible ongoing work in the future) starting 3/4/5/7th January 2008, the earlier the better but we understand many people will be off through the festive period. We can help with finding accommodation if necessary.

Responsibilities:

* Design and create realistic particle Fx using sprite/volumetrics rendering techniques and houdini/maya particle systems
* create dynamic or rigid body simulations
* (Possibly) create tools, utility scripts, expressions and other digital assets to streamline the setup process and achieve the desired look
* be responsible for producing the final looks of VFX sequences, including integration with other CG elements
* Work with production management to prioritize tasks
* Keep CG Supervisor informed of progress, changes and other critical issues

Qualifications:

* Houdini FX animation experience
* In depth knowledge of Maya FX (and/or Houdini) animation and particle tools, with at least 2+ years of production experience in either package.
* If Maya is used as the primary Fx package, some production experience with Prman/Renderman for Maya FX rendering would be advantageous
* experience rendering with houdini/MANTRA preferred
* Some experience with MEL or Houdini scripting
* Some compositing experience, preferably Fusion, Halo, Combustion or similar
* Ability to integrate into existing pipeline intrastructure
* The ability to support him or herself and take initiative
* degree or HND in either animation or arts/programming equivalent and/or 3 years production experience backed up by references
NB: extremely talented applicants who lack formal training or the requisite amount of production experience but can demonstrate a commensurate level of skill will also be considered
