After reported "creative differences", Disney management removed Chris Sanders from American Dog a few months ago. Having the project he developed pulled from him was enough to cause Sanders to move on after almost 20 years with the company.
Not soon after, DreamWorks Animation scooped up the talented artist, and via a press release, say he will be directing the caveman film Crood Awakenings. This DWA project was originally being developed with Aardman. Since the two companies have since parted ways, DWA continues to move forward on its own.
"I've been so anxious to start working on things, and so I talked to a lot of people, I like the way DreamWorks looks at animation. Animation still has a lot of different places to go, and I don't want to miss out on a chance to try some new things with it.", says Chris Sanders via a press release.
Crood Awakenings is being written by John Cleese and Kirk De Micco, although Sanders believes there will be a significant re-write. There is currently no release date set for the film.
