Grapeflix Offers Service For Content Creators E-mail
Friday, 26 January 2007

The Grapeflix website has launched with a new service that allows content creators to upload their material and receive up to 80% of the revenue.  The media can be sold or rented to viewers at prices that you set.  Advertising is largely still up to the creator, however, you can advertise on the website itself for a fee or simply be found by people that just stumble across your work.  On the outside, this appears to be a nice way to try and make a little money from your animated short films.

From the website:

At Grapeflix, content owners open accounts, create theaters and movie pages for free (a theater is a group of movie pages linked together)! They send us their DVD for conversion and upload, or upload themselves their media files (wmv) directly to their theater using a PC or a Mac. There is a charge to convert DVDs into media files (wmv) (see below in the Costs section) and a monthly charge to store those files on our servers. Each time their content is accessed, their account is credited with a Producer Share, typically 80-85% of the sale price. Producer shares accumulate in their balance and can be withdrawn at anytime after funds become available.
