Ok so what's the count now for copycat CG animated features?
4 ant films (3 released, 1 still to come),
2 sea creature films,
2 zoo escape films,
2 films about rats,
and now 2 films revolving around penguins.

It makes me wonder if studios don't employ agents to bug the other studios story rooms and then it's a push to see who can put it out the quickest and label the other as unoriginal.

Just synical I guess.

Sometimes writers agents pitch their scripts to multiple studios - im sure on some occasion the reason these "similar" films come around at the same time is not a coincidence and not because people bug people. Just plainly they missed out or couldnt do a deal.

Its NOT a coincidence thats for sure with the stats on this.

Even if it is another penguin movie, I like this trailer a lot. Very creative. The Chili Peppers music is a bit Hollywood-ish in a trailer (maybe even...californication??...hehe, sorry couldn't resist). But what are ya gonna do.

I was in a theatre packed with families on Friday seeing Open Season. They all laughed and buzzed about the happy feet trailer, but moments later when this trailer came on, it was total silence and it almost felt like the kids were going to boo.

Eh, some people like cheap laughs. I've been at shows where people cracked up at the trailer for The Shaggy Dog and Santa Claus 3.... doesn't mean anything.

I was really pumped for this movie after seeing the still frame images. However, now I'm not so excited and think this may be kind of boring. It is hard to tell from this initial look though. Open Season was great. I hope SPA can continue their streak with this one.
