Combining a few short news items in one post, we have information an animated film that benefits cancer research, a website where animators can win up to $5000, and the announcement of Disney gaining a new chairman. 

John Pepper has been appointed chairman of The Walt Disney board of directors.  Pepper is a former Procter & Gamble chairman and CEO and will take his seat starting on Jan 1st, 2007.  Stepping down is Senator George Mitchell, who has been in the role since March 2004.

Lord Productions, LLC and Strategic Dreamers LLC are in production on the CG animated film, The Legend of Secret Pass.  This film is funded and slated for release in 2008.  An unknown percentage of its profit will go to cancer research.  Directed by Steve Trenbirth and his production company, Mad Cow Studios has chosen Digital Dimension in Montreal to handle the CG production.  The sceen play was written by Karl Geurs based on an original story by Erik Stoops.  The film's website is here and click here for more information about the Cancer donations.

aniBoom.com is a portal that animators can show off their work and compete for $25,000 ($5,000 in each category).  The site will not launch until August 15th, however, it is accepting submissions at this time.  The website will also offer revenue share where animators will earn 10% of the sites ad revenue.  Visit the site for more information .
