Weinstein aligns with Exodus

The Weinstein Company announces an alliance with Exodus Film Group to jointly develop, produce and finance a multi-picture slate of CG-animated feature films, DVDs, and television series. TWC will distribute the titles worldwide. The joint announcement was made yesterday by Harvey Weinstein, Co- Chairman of The Weinstein Company and John D. Eraklis, CEO of Exodus Film Group. 

 
Imageworks heads to the desert.

Quietly released last Thursday, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson announced that Sony Imageworks and Albuquerque Studios have signed a deal to house up to 100,000 sq. feet of space at the Mesa del Sol development.  There have been rumors swirling for some time regarding the opening of the desert campus, however, Sony was waiting to first make sure that they would be eligible for tax incentives. 

 
Shrek 3 is #1

dwAfter its opening weekend, Shrek The Third rakes in an astounding $122 million.  That is the highest opening ever for an animated film and the third biggest opening for any type of movie.  Dreamworks said that the total far outpaced what they had expected. 

 
New Bee Movie Trailer

DWADreamWorks Animation has released a new trailer for the upcoming Bee Movie.  The movie will be released in November and stars the voice of Jerry Seinfeld.  This is the first trailer to get an extended glimpse of the actual animation in the film, instead of the previous live action teasers.  

 
Cal Arts and Motion Capture

CalArts put together a very funny video on the advantages of motion capture.  The video even has cameos from Glen Keane and James Baxter.  It was created to open the CalArts Producer's Show.
