Autodesk Buys Mudbox

Autodesks announced that they have purchased the assets of Skymatter Limited, the company responsible for Mudbox.  How the product will be changed or integrated with Autodesks products is not known.  The press release is below.

 
Pixar launches Wall-E website

In an effort to start (Viral?) marketing Pixar's upcoming film Wall-E, a rather extravagant website has been launched.  You can browse the extensive and well done website here .   Some of the things you can find include world news, robots for sale, "Buy N Large" corporate information, and the rather lengthy list of business divisions. 

 
Horton Hears a Who -- Trailer #1

 If you make your way over to AOL movies , you can see the first trailer for Blue Sky's next CG feature - Horton Hears a Who.  The film stars the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.  The movie opens on March 14th. 

 
Monsters vs. Aliens moves up

DreamWorks Animation’s Monsters vs. Aliens has been slated for its domestic release on May 15, 2009, one week earlier than its previously announced date, with both the official title and the 2009 release date now confirmed for the project.  “Monsters vs. Aliens,” which reinvents the classic ‘50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy, will be the first DreamWorks Animation film produced in stereoscopic 3D technology.  The film is being directed by Conrad Vernon (“Shrek 2”) and Rob Letterman (“Shark Tale”), and produced by Lisa Stewart (“I Think I Love My Wife”). 

 
ASIFA and Toon Boom sponsor animation contest

The ASIFA (Association internationale du film d'animation) and Toon Boom Animation Inc. today announced the launch of International Animation Contest for the Web, open to worldwide creative minds. The contest is open until September 24, 2007 and is calling for animated shorts that are two minutes or less based on the theme, "Global Warming".
