Warner Brothers Releases Ant Bully Trailer

Ant Bully, CG FilmWarner Brothers has recently released what appears to be the first full trailer for Ant Bully.  The CG animated film opens in late July and was produced in Texas at DNA Productions.  You can review the Ant Bully trailer after watching it here .

Poor 10-year-old Lucas Nickle (voiced by ZACH TYLER EISEN) can't get a break. Recently moved to a new city with his family, he hasn't made a single friend. He gets nothing but grief from his teenage sister Tiffany and not a whole lot of attention lately from his parents (voiced by CHERI OTERI and LARRY MILLER), who are busy planning their big anniversary weekend trip to Puerto Vallarta. Meanwhile, his loving but kinda kooky grandmother Mommo (voiced by LILY TOMLIN) spends all her time trying to protect the family from those outer-space aliens she's been reading about in the grocery store magazines...

 
Raindance Film Festival

CGCHAR continues to promote film festivals that award cash prizes in the short film category. This time around we want to mention the Raindance Film Festival in the UK.

Along with the related British Independent Film Awards, Raindance helps to promote original filmmaking through diverse international programming. This year's prizes include the Diesel Film of the Festival award. The winner receives funds from Diesel to make the following year's Raindance film festival trailer, which is screened in cinemas all over the UK. Also up for grabs are the Distribution Award, where the winner receives UK theatrical and DVD distribution, and the Nokia Award, where the winner receives £5,000 ($9,000 USD) to make a short film.  LINK

 
Knight Builds Camelot for Laika

Nike founder Phil Knight plans to build a campus in this Portland suburb to house Laika Entertainment, the animation studio he bought in 2003.

Laika, which was known as Vinton Studios when Knight acquired it, employs fewer than 200 people now, but expects to hire another 400 in the next two years as it produces a pair of theatrical features, The Oregonian reported in its Wednesday editions.

In an interview with the newspaper, Knight said he wants Laika to compete with Pixar Animation Studios, the company behind hit films such as "Toy Story" and "Cars."

 
Pixar's Superhero

It's tempting to see "Cars," the seventh movie from Pixar Animation Studios, as a parable about the future of Walt Disney Co.

Early in the film, which opened Friday, a cocky race car named Lightning McQueen declares, "I'm a one-man show." But by the time the credits roll, McQueen realizes he's nothing without a great pit crew behind him. It's a lesson that Ed Catmull, Pixar's co-founder and the new president of Disney Feature Animation, has built his career on.

 
Paramount Acquires Mayfly

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures has acquired the animated film property/story Mayfly from the writers Steve Rudnick and Leo Benvenuti.  Mayfly centers around the bug of the same name that only live a day.  The young bug accidentally oversleeps and must live for the moment with the help of a tortoise who generally live to 100 years old.
