Monster House, in its opening week took over $22 million dollars, besting Lady In The Water, though still getting clobbered by the Johnny Depp-infested phenomenon Pirates Of The Caribbean. Monster House is the latest film to utilize high-tech computer animation pioneered by Pixar and capitalized on by DreamWorks.

DreamWorks recently launched the official Flushed Away website that contains a new trailer, wallpapers, buddy icons, making-of-featurette, and stills from the film. Ever since Pixar burst on the scene with a certain group of toys lead by a hyper cowboy named Woody and an all-business space ranger named Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story, audiences have seemingly been enamored with computer generated animation.

Toy Story 3 is moving right along and "it's going to be great." That's the word from Buzz Lightyear himself, Tim Allen. "We have John Lasseter, the original director, and I believe Tom is on board," he adds, referring to Tom Hanks -- aka the voice of his cowboy buddy, Woody. The follow-up to Toy Story and Toy Story 2 was en route to being made by Disney, without the creative talents of Lasseter and the rest of the Pixar animation team that made the first two movies instant classics. When Pixar was acquired by Disney in January, Lasseter, the Pixar co-founder who is now Disney's Chief Creative Officer, pulled the plug on that version immediately and literally put "TS3" back on the drawing boards.

The debut on Friday of Steven Spielberg's animated thriller Monster House is part of an explosion of 3D films that Hollywood studios and exhibitors hope will bring people back to the movies. The Columbia Pictures film will debut on the largest number of digital 3D-equipped screens ever, in a nod to the unexpectedly robust results shown last fall by the Walt Disney Co's 3D release of Chicken Little.
